This year’s Keynote will address body image, an important, timely, and often difficult issue facing aesthetic practices today.
There is no denying that social media influences our daily lives. Join us for our Welcome Keynote Address where Lisa Durette, MD, will deliver an impactful Keynote about how social media has twisted beauty ideals and self-image. It is clear: social media use and resulting poor body image affects people of all ages and has contributed to the concerning mental health decline in young adults. Learn what this means to you as an aesthetic practitioner, how you can use proven methods to differentiate those with “normal” body image concerns versus people suffering from body dysmorphic disorder, as well as how you can best help people with a distorted body image and unrealistic expectations.
Following Dr. Durette’s practical and clinically focused talk will be a lively panel discussion featuring aesthetic physicians and providers discussing their experiences with technology and media influence on patients’ perceptions and body image, unrealistic patient expectations, identifying and managing patients with BDD, the concept of “Perception Drift,” and when these patients become dangerous to themselves, you and others. This is sure to be a revealing examination of social media’s effects on us as a society, and particularly your aesthetic patients.
